The way the FIRTEC™ technology works is based on the knowledge that the human ear doesn’t hear in magnitude or phase, rather it only takes in a continuous stream of information. Changes in air pressure arriving at each ear drum in chronological order make up the entire information in an acoustical ambience.  Included in this is volume as well as directional and room information.  Our FIRTEC™ technology separates the signal in bass, middle and mid-high paths and corrects the emitted music signal in a way that at the ear of the listener the sound waves come together to reflect the complex sound event correctly.  The impulse response of a system with such a frequency crossover does not include any distortion and is therefore extremely clean and without overshoots.  Additionally, the interaction of the speakers with the surrounding room can be optimized with the adjustment of filters.

The vertical horn in the BMLine 80 and BMLine 100 in combination with the cylinder wave emission of the speaker leads to a distinct increase in the direct sound waves arriving at the listening position.  Simply said, this means an increase in purity of the music at the listening position, clearly unclouded by the acoustic properties of the listening room, with less audible room resonances, bringing the listener much closer to the musical event.

In the newly developed electronic in FPGA design ("Field Programmable Gate Array"), a software based digital signal processor (DSP) has been implemented that reproduces the mathematical model of the loudspeaker system with all relevant physical properties and many thousands of times in every second it calculates the correct equalization of the system.  Thereby, the loudspeaker system comprising of chassis, cabinet and electronics is regarded as a complete unit and corrected accordingly.  This means that for the complete mid/high range area an exact pre-regulation is possible without any control loop errors and dead time.  The implemented AD/DA converter is state of the art and enhances an area of performance and dynamic that is absolutely fit for live events.

Across the entire bass /mid frequency range in the BMLine 80 a further developed and patented B&M proprietary DMC™ control is at work.  In an analogue way, the exact same musical reproduction is achieved as in the mid/high frequency band of the DSP with FIRTEC™.  The combination of digital signal processing interacting with the analogue B&M proprietary DMC™ control results in an exact linearization of magnitude and phase.

As a result, the BMLine reaches a constant phase progression of 0° or in musical terms: All frequencies arrive at the same time at the ear of the listener.  The result is an unbelievably accurate pulse in combination with  an exact spatial visualization of the stage and panorama.
